Harriett Grady-Thomas is a seasoned Psychotherapist and Clinical Psychiatric Social Worker. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Mercer University in Atlanta.
Harriett went on to be awarded a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton Georgia. A Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. While earning her MSW, she was on faculty at Trident Technical College in Charleston, S.C., (her home for most of her life, being born and reared here.) While at TTC, Ms Grady-Thomas taught Psychology, Sociology, and Human Services, and served as coordinator of all three departments. She also developed a two year Human Services Program with an internship. TTC still offers this program today.
In 1990, while teaching at TTC, Harriett opened a private practice for Psychotherapy at the urging of fellow faculty members and Harriett maintained this practice throughout the years while working other jobs in her field until joining Barrier Island Psychiatry.
Harriett Grady-Thomas also worked at the Medical University of S.C. in the Alcohol and Drug and Dual Diagnosis Program, taking care of in and out patients for individual, family and group Psychotherapy.
In addition to the Addiction field Harriett has experience in Geriatrics, Pain Management, HIV/AIDS, and is a Certified Dragon’s Way Qigong Instructor. Qigong is an internal martial arts program that has been practice in China for over 5,000 years.
