Intensive Outpatient Treatment

INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT TREATMENT

The Intensive Outpatient Program(IOP) for substance abuse, uses evidence-based Dialectical Behavior Therapy(DBT). DBT is a cognitive behavioral therapy that helps patients identify negative thinking patterns and upgrades to positive behavioral dynamics in memory, judgment, perception, and reasoning.  This therapy teaches patients to effectively manage extreme patterns of thought and behavior to create balance in personal emotions and improve well-being.

The IOP program

The group meets three hours a day, three days a week. This program provides a new way to achieve long-term recovery using activities such as; art therapy, equine therapy, music therapy, nutrition education, and yoga to name a few. These activities will deepen the treatment experience. The Middle Path at Barrier Islands Psychiatry also encourages family support even after your treatment.
