Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy

Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy

When one’s body is overwhelmed with stress, trauma, poor diet, and/or physical inactivity, the body as a whole is left in general dysfunction. This dysfunction is often manifested through musculoskeletal deficits which can be addressed through osteopathic manipulative Therapy. These services aim to provide an opportunity to help enhance a patient’s natural healing processes. Create balance through safe, manipulative treatment.

A substantial percentage (55%) of those with opioid disorder also have chronic pain.

(American Journal of Addiction Medicine 2021) and will benefit from Osteopathic Medicine.

It is our hope that by providing non-pharmacological methods, we can help support those who are struggling with addressing their chronic pain while simultaneously treating their opioid addiction.

The benefits of OMT do not stop there. By definition, anxiety is a condition where stress chemicals in both the brain and body are at higher or lower levels for longer periods of time than appropriate.

Manipulation is one physical mechanism we can use to normalize these chemical levels by activating the parasympathetic nervous system which increases the body’s natural “feel good” chemicals called endorphins.

Some other commonly treated conditions include sinus & ear congestion, TMJ/jaw pain, Headache, vertigo/BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), nerve pain (sciatica), neck/back pain, shoulder/elbow/wrist/hand pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, plantar fasciitis, overuse injuries, chronic pain, constipation, IBS and more.
