BARRIER ISLANDS PSYCHIATRY’S SUBOXONE PROGRAM
Barrier Islands Psychiatry offers a comprehensive outpatient Suboxone Treatment Program for various substance addictions. Suboxone(Buprenorphine/Naloxone) is an FDA-approved medication to Treat Opioid Dependence. Opioids are a class of drugs that includes the illicit substance Heroin and powerful narcotic pain medications such as; Codeine, Fentanyl, Hydrocodone, Methadone, Morphine, Oxycodone, and many others. Suboxone relieves the cravings and withdrawal symptoms from these opioids by coating the nerve cells in the brain and body, this helps prevent relapse.
Our Physicians are experts in Addiction Medicine. The Relapse Prevention Group also serves these patients on their road to recovery. Individual therapy is also an option as we have Therapists that work in addiction. The clinical staff at Barrier Islands Psychiatry, has the ability to assess and treat co-occurring disorders, with a focus on restoring full mental and physical functioning. Barrier Islands Psychiatry can individualize treatment for each patient.
Suboxone Induction
Typically patients will come to their appointment in withdrawal and will be given a Subutex(Buprenorphine Hydrochloride)prescription. Patient will need another to accompany them to the appointment to go and pick up said prescription. Patients are see in the office for an appointment for two days after that. The Patients are closely monitor after with regular appointments to ensure recover and remission. Patients who have been on Suboxone in the past are also accepted into this program.
Suboxone Restart
This option is for patients that already have a Suboxone prescription and are transitioning care from another Provider. Patients must present with an active prescription, bringing the prescription bottle to the appointment is necessary.
