I have a passion for working to help others recover from the effects of Substance Use Disorder. My counseling background is working in residential treatment, for those in early recovery at the detention center, and in private practice. My counseling orientation is from the Person-Centered perspective; that of unconditional positive regard, empathy, and non-judgment. This is why I enjoy Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Skills we teach through the Middle Path are useful in reducing suffering and helping the individual learn to cope with cravings, unhelpful emotions or thoughts, and towards improved relationships.
My undergraduate degree is from Clemson University in Health Science (Go Tigers!). My graduate degree is in mental health counseling from Walden University. I am a Charleston native and cheer-leader of the human spirit! Through improved use of DBT skills, my own life is more manageable. I believe in the program of the Middle Path, and I am honored to facilitate the skills training groups it offers! The greatest reward is witnessing the client utilize skills and discover a mindful middle path towards a vital life worth living.
